PCRに使われるDNAポリメラーゼは、二価の陽イオンMg2+を補因子として必要とします。MgCl2濃度の変化はDNAポリメラーゼの増幅能や正確さに影響します。また、プライマーとターゲットDNAとのアニーリングにも影響します。GoTaq®/ GoTaq® G2 Flexi DNA Polymerase、GoTaq®/ GoTaq® G2 Hot Start PolymeraseあるいはGoTaq® MDx DNA Polymeraseに含まれる5X GoTaq® Flexi Reaction Bufferを使ったPCR条件の最適化を容易にするために使われます。
