dUTP（2'-Deoxyuridine-5'-triphosphate）は、前段階における増幅産物の持ちこみを防ぐためにPCRまたはRT-PCR法でdTTPの換わりに使用されます。PCRでdTTPの換わりにdUTPを使用するとウラシルを含むPCR産物が得られます。この増幅産物はほとんどの標準的な用途に使用することができます。ウラシル-N-グリコシラーゼ（UNG*またはUDG）をPCRプレミックスに加えると、先の混入PCR産物からウラシルを除去するため、擬陽性を抑えることができます。
dUTPは各ロットごとに特異的なDNA増幅が行われること、ヌクレアーゼ活性が無いことを確認しています。プロメガの全てのdNTPsは98%以上が三リン酸であることを確認しており、使いやすい100mMの水溶液（pH 7.5）として供給されます。
